He was, “The One.” The one she was supposed to marry someday. To grow old with, but it was hard to love someone that would never love her back. After revealing to Dane that their one-night-stand had resulted in a pregnancy, she knew that the baby would be her only real link to the boy she loved. And when an unexpected person comes into her life, it forces her to feel, something she hasn’t done in a long time. She thought it was too soon, and that she wasn’t ready. What she didn’t know was that love doesn’t come when you expect it or when you’re ready. It came crashing in at the craziest of times, and when you thought you’d never be able to love again. Would she ever fully recover from the boy that would forever cause her heartbreak? Because the green-eyed boy wanted her whole heart and nothing less? It’s time to stop running, stop hiding, and start learning where the true escape lies. Everyone will face heartbreak, but not everyone will find love. This man had such an effect on me. He made my palms sweat. He made me fidgety and un-girly like. He made me laugh, when all I really wanted to do was cry. Those damn green eyes made me want to look so deeply into them that I’d get lost. -Wren Regina is a Contemporary & NA romance author from Kentucky. I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed. But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoys a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own. I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed. HOSTED BY: Adam Fischer doesn’t believe in second chances. Heartbroken after his lover Charlie leaves him to chase his music career in L.A., Adam is convinced that meaningless one-night-stands are all life has in store for him. Until fate drops Penn Shields in his lap. Penn is a young, talented designer fresh out of college who has just landed his dream job as a wardrobe assistant in Queen Victoria theatre, where Adam is performing in a popular musical. He’s also Charlie's brother. The last thing Penn wants is to follow in his brother’s footsteps, especially since they haven’t spoken in years. However, the attraction he feels for Adam grows with each day, and soon resisting it proves to be futile. As Adam and Penn get to know each other intimately, they both realise that first impressions may be deceiving, and that, sometimes, second chances come in the same packaging. *explicit sexual content, graphic language and adult themes. Recommended for readers 18+ only* The night passed in a blur of music, dancing, laughter, and glasses clicking together. The smile never left Penn’s face, and he looked like he was having the most fun, even though he switched to sparkling water after the second cocktail. Adam loved dancing with him, holding him tight as Penn wiggled that delicious ass against Adam's hips. He loved the way his skin smelled when it was flushed and sweaty, and couldn’t help but kiss him every chance he got. Hi, my name is Teodora and I live in London with my husband and my son. I've been writing ever since I can remember, but it became my full time job a few years ago when I decided that everything else I've tried bores me to death and I have to do what I've always wanted to do, but never had the guts to fully embrace. I've been a journalist, an editor, a personal assistant and an interior designer among other things, but as soon as the novelty of the new, exciting job wears off, I always go back to writing. Being twitchy, impatient, loud and hasty are not qualities that help a writer, because I have to sit alone, preferably still, and write for most of the day, but I absolutely love it. It's the only time that I'm truly at peace and the only thing I can do for more than ten minutes at a time - my son has a bigger attention span than me. When I'm procrastinating, I like to go to the gym, cook Italian meals (and eat them), read, listen to rock music, watch indie movies and True Blood re-runs. Or, in the worst case scenario, get beaten at every Nintendo Wii game by a kid. Don't be shy and get in touch - I love connecting with my readers. HOSTED BY: Brock Holloway has it all -- money, friends, a bitchin' car and a promising football career. At least, that's what people see. Inside, though, Brock is fighting for something he knows he can never have: Unconditional love. As the child of Aphrodite, he is worshipped, admired, wanted - but never loved. Zack Duran is a wolverine shifter -- and not a nice guy. Zack's shifter side is always in control, often making him heartless and unfeeling. When Zack is assigned to guard Brock Holloway, his tactless wolverine tendencies become even more prevalent and Zack has to fight his shifter personality AND his genuine feelings for the beautiful football player. A near tragedy shakes him to his core, and Zack can no longer fight the feelings he has for Brock. But giving in to his emotions may come at too high a price. A startling secret charges Brock with the nearly impossible task of taming Zack's beast. Is he up to the challenge? Can Zack give him what he needs? And with danger working overtime, can they finally be together as they were intended? Best selling author, Sandrine (Sandy) was born in Inglewood, California. Her beautiful face, so often lit with a breathtaking smile, was now cold and dead. The first time heâd seen her, he had thought she was an angel, and heâd said that very thing under his breath when she had made her debut that season⦠âBeautiful,â he murmured as Lucy took a turn about the room, gaining introductions to all the available gentlemen who came her way. Taking an earth-shattering breath, the kind that every man took when he was about to approach a beautiful woman, he made his way over to her. Music faded into the background with each step. All Ash was aware of was the clicking of his boot against the floor as he progressed toward the beauty. One dance⦠if only she would give him one dance, he would secure her hand forever. He knew it in his heart, in his soul. She was meant to be his. Heart beating out of his chest, he could barely contain his excitement as she lifted her eyes and met his gaze. Blue eyes twinkled in his direction, and then she lifted her hand in a wave. A wave? Something was wrong. Ash paused and then glanced self- consciously over his shoulder. There was no one but him, and then he gazed back at her. She crooked her finger, beckoning him forward. Completely under her spell, he couldnât deny her any more than he could cease from taking his next breath. Finally, he stood before her, at least a foot taller than she. âWhere have you been, you rogue?â She swatted him on the arm and gave him a coy laugh. âI have been looking everywhere for you!â âFor me?â Ash questioned. âAre you certain we have met?â âMust you always joke at such serious times?â The girl laughed again, and he was caught at the sight of her dimples as they danced along her cheeks. Carefree. She appeared so carefree, so perfect, un-weighted by the things of this world, by the responsibility and darkness, by disappointment. He tilted his head and then reached out to touch her â perhaps she truly was a dream. And then a voice broke out into the pounding in his ears. âAh, sweetheart, youâve met my brother.â Hunter stepped beside the girl and wrapped his arm around her. Ash stepped back, his heart sinking down to his feet. She hadnât been looking for him at all, but his older brother, his twin, the duke. It was such a sad joke, a sad existence really. Would he ever be first in anything? Months had progressed into a year as heâd watched his brother and Lucy fall into such a deep love all he had been able to do was be happy for them and try to spend as much time away as possible. After all, it was not done to want your brotherâs wife, to want to care for her and protect her. It was fateâs final, cruel trick to allow Ash to feel something for another and then have that person ripped away by his brother. Though he loved his brother more than his own life, it seemed Ash was always left with nothing while his brother was given everything. His name fit. For he was the ash after the fire of Hunter burned out. He was nothing but soot, darkness, and sand. One day, his ashes would trickle away into the wind, never to be remembered and never mourned, but forgotten. âAsh! Do you hear me! I love you! I love you!â Hunter yelled at his brother as he shook his shoulders, and then his eyes widened with desperation as slapped him across the face. Ash stared at the blood staining his hands. He tried to wipe it off. Tried but failed as it continued to drip down his wrists into his jacket. âIâm so sorry,â he kept repeating over and over again, but it did not matter. The carriage had come too fast. Lucy had thought Ash was Hunter and had run to him right into the street. The fault was his. He knew it, Hunter knew it, and Lucy, beautiful Lucy, his brotherâs innocent wife was dead, and it was all because he had lied about who he was, tried to be better than just the second son. He backed away, slowly at first, and then he ran. His feet ached, his stomach heaved, and finally he stopped in the middle of the street, hoping, praying that someone or something would hit him. Death, it seemed, was his only option; it was his wish, his choice. For how could he live with himself after what he had done? Hunter had loved Lucy, but so had Ash. She was his everything, his only relative other than Hunter, and although he had wanted her for himself, he had pushed those emotions so far beneath the surface of his heart that he hadnât understood how far the love had run until now, until it was too late. On legs like lead, he walked until he reached the tombstone of his parents. Both taken from him too soon. What would they think of him now? He was the disappointment in the family, the second son by minutes. And now he was a murderer. Disgusted with himself, he sat down on the cold grass, leaned his head against the stone, and cursed. His brother â his only living relative â and he had ruined his life and ruined his parentsâ memory in the process. All he had ever wanted as a boy was to please his father, yet all heâd received was disapproval. One time â just one time â he wanted to make someone proud, make himself proud. But it was impossible. He looked down at bloodstained hands. His future stared right back at him. Flee! He needed to flee, to get away. No, not just get away. He needed to die. A life for a life. So he set about doing exactly that. It was not fair that he was able to live, to survive, when the one woman who had done nothing but brought happiness to everyone sheâd met, lay dead in the street. âLucy,â he whispered as salty tears ran down his cheeks and across his lips. âIâm so sorry⦠but I will see you soon. I will see you soon.â He reached into his pocket and pulled out the pistol. With shaking hands he lifted it to his chin and pulled the trigger. My family positioned themselves around me. Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware⦠until now. Now, I know there are rules to this game... Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game. What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss? The answer is simple⦠Everything. Chapter 1 Ignorance isnât always bliss⦠How did I get here? Not this specific seat exactly⦠I mean here, in this part of my life, where I never would have considered being. I know the events that led me hereâmy sisters moving back, my parentsâ vow renewal, and a weekend that I could have practiced better control. Could have. I wonât deny it to myself that I wanted it to happen. I wonât deny it to you eitherâ¦but Simon⦠Well, he doesnât need to know the truth. Heâd be smug and pompousâ¦or should I say heâd be himself. Simon was right about one thing, though. He said nothing about this game would be simple, and so far, it isnât. If it was, the game would be over by now, and I would be sitting somewhere else having breakfast instead of waiting for him to join us. Raising my coffee to my mouth, I sit here trying to ignore the pleas of Mea while we wait for everyone to get here. âPlease,â she asks. âNo.â I lean back in my seat staring at her. âPlease.â I watch her cup her hands and bring them up to her chest as she pleads. âNo.â Here it comesâ¦I can see the anger building, the slight twitch in her eye starting. âWhy not?â She drops her hands and her voice becomes louder than it was a few seconds ago. Because bothering you is so much fun. âBecause I donât like womenâ¦and I donât want an assistant,â I tell her. âWell, you do want an assistant,â Lexi mumbles. âSee!â Mea points to Lexi. âIâll be so good! I follow you around anyway, and I hate women, too!â She bounces in her chair. âI know. Youâre like a lost little puppy.â My face wrinkles when she starts the face. âDid you forget? Youâre Joshâs assistant,â I remind her for the millionth time. âHow are we going to explain why youâre suddenly mine?â We arenât because she has no answer to that. For months, sheâs been Joshâs assistant on set. Actually, if Iâm being truthful, she has years of being Joshâs assistant under her belt. Am I using that as a scapegoat? Umm, yes! I have to put up with her all day everyday anyway. I donât need her as an Ass, too. âIâm bored with Josh,â she whines, ignoring my question. Thatâs niceâ¦Iâm sure your husband would like to know he bores you at work. âFine,â I groan, taking another mouthful of coffee. âReally?â Meaâs voice is so happy, so filled with joy. Stupid question. âNo,â I smirk into my mug so she canât see me. Itâs not that I donât like Meaâ¦I like her a lot, actually. Sheâs just so much fun to tease. âYouâre a jerk,â Mea pouts. See? Look at that lip. So. Much. Fun. âWeâve been coming here every Sunday for weeks and every Sunday it starts out the same. Could you just tell her yes and be done with it.â Lexiâs head falls over the back of her chair. Once again, the problem isnât her being my Ass. Itâs the fact that she is already Joshâs and further more⦠the girl knows nothing about make-up. âI donât know why you want to be my assistant. Like you said, itâs same thing you do nowâ¦just follow me around and look busy. Why do you need the title?â I look out the restaurant window, searching for the rest of our group. âBecause when I tell people Iâm your assistant, it wonât feel like a lie.â She grabs a menu to look through it. Wait, what? âIâ¦youâ¦,â I try to think of something to say. What a freaking jerk! She just admitted to lying to everyone about being my Ass. Waitâ¦this makes sense now. Every time someone mentioned giving something to my assistant, I laughed and said yeah. Dammit! Mea took total advantage of my ignorance! âThis doesnât make us friends.â I glare at her, still trying not to laugh. Do I get a say in anything? âNever.â Mea smiles. I feel like that answers both my verbal and mental question. âIt doesnât mean weâre going to be friends, either. We arenât going to chitchat and gossip. Iâm not about to play dress up and do your make-up.â I put my mug down on the table to wiggle my fingers through the air. âSo, cuddling is off the table too, then,â she asks catching me off guard. Beg your pardon⦠âWhy the hell would we need to cuddle?â I ask, and Lexi begins to laugh. âWell, say Iâm stuck at your apartment because thereâs so much snow outside. Does a sleepover count as all of those things?â She looks at us. Pressing my lips together, I try to make sense of what she just said. âWhy the frig would you be at my apartment?â I question her. âWell, why not?â She looks at me then Lexi, whose body is being jolted around by laughter. âIâ¦I honestly have no answer that you would accept,â I breathe out, exhausted. âOkay. Can I ask one more question, though?â Mea beams. âJust one?â I wait for it, trying to mentally prepare myself for the next bizarre thing she might spout out. I think my eye is starting to twitch. I need a cup. Reaching down into my bag, I pull a few out. âEh, it depends on your answerâ¦â She looks behind me. âFine, go ahead.â I turn to see everyone walking over to us, as I unwrap my medication. âWhat if that did happen?â she asks. Thatâs the same question with different words! Iâm going to have to make sure this girl never gets the opportunity to come over. Iâll never get her out. âThen you can sleep on the couch or cuddle with Lexi.â I point to Lexi. Sweet peanut buttery goodnessâ¦youâre the only one who gets me. âSidney only cuddles when sheâs drunk. Then sheâll do all those thingsâ¦play with your hair and gossip, the whole nine yards. Other than that, sheâs a stick in the mud,â Lexi laughs. I must attract people like this. âSheâs going to make me be her friend, isnât she?â I ask Simon when he pulls out his seat next to me. âI would love to tell you that you have a choice, but I think sheâs going to win this one.â He lightly pinches my cheek. Releasing a heavy sigh, I agree. âThank you for not lying to me.â

Numb in Lynn Rider's debut book. I enjoyed it, but it left me with questions and wanting more detail into the lives of the characters. I look forward to reading what Rider comes up with next. Meagan is an accomplished musician, working her dream job in New York City. Walking away from her family when she did not become what they wanted her to. She followed her dreams and went to live her life, her way. The only ties she has to her family, is through her older brother Owen. Who helps to support her, while she is living her dream. I really wanted more background on these two characters. We get the basic idea as to why they are no longer connected to their parents, but I wanted more. Meagan has finally met someone who seems to be the right fit for her. But Douglas is just boring and after so long she realizes that she is not truly happy with him. Their is no spark and they behave like an old married couple. Ashton Harris is the lead guitarist and back up vocalist for Silver Knight, one of the hottest bands to hit the pop scene. He and Meagan have crossed paths several months ago and they parted as friends. Here is another area where I would have liked a little more background info. Did they have a relationship? Were they even trying to have one? Or was Meagan so dead set on her career, that she could not make room for Aston? She did say that he would break her heart in the end. All Ashton knows is that Meagan is it for him and he will do whatever is necessary to prove to her that they can make a life together. I love love loved his character. He was the hot, sexy, tattooed bad boy rocker. But had this amazing caring side. He wanted to help his family and make sure that Meagan was safe and protected. He was sweet, sexy, hard and controlling when he needed to be. He wanted to give her the world. It just seemed that no matter how much Meagan claimed to love Ashton, she was constantly doubting their relationship. She would get so upset over things that are expected to happen in a rockers life and then she would hesitate to discuss them with Ashton. Although she was his biggest supporter when the shit really hit the fan between them. Can Meagan get over all the crazy tabloid stories and put the past behind them? Is Ashton strong enough to fight for her and prove to her that he is the one that she belongs with? That he can provide for her and make her dreams come true. without losing what she wants and believes in? Pick up your copy and find out. Over all this was a decent read. I struggled with all the professing of love. I think it was a tad over done. Other than some minor grammar issues and things being stated more times than necessary, I enjoyed this book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves rocker romance stories. Brock Holloway has it all -- money, friends, a bitchin' car and a promising football career.
