Twenty-three year old Meagan Chambers always wanted to be a musician.
Her parents wanted her to be a doctor.
She decided to risk everything to follow her dreams…
Starting over in the city of her dreams, her hard work and dedication had paid off, landing Meagan a coveted seat on one of the country’s top orchestras.
She was doing what she loved.
And everything was perfect.
Until she met Ashton Harris.
Lead guitarist and backup vocalist to the chart-topping Silver Knight, Ashton was unlike anyone she’d ever met. With one glance of his crooked grin, she knew he could be her undoing, but determined to succeed, she refused to let anyone step in her way …
Not even him.
Because falling for someone like Ashton Harris could ruin everything.
I started down the dimly lit hallway when a large beefy arm shot out across my chest, blocking my way. I was momentarily stunned by the firmness and unforgiving movement when I ran into it full stride.
“You can’t go in there,” a deep rumble of a voice said sternly.
I followed the tree limb sized arm where it attached to the largest African American man I had ever seen. He stared down at me, looking like he was prepared to fight. I looked at him quizzically.
“You can’t go in there.” He gave me a pointed look that told me there was no room for argument. “It’s occupied,” he added.
I stepped back and nodded, ready to turn on my heel when the bathroom door swung open, lighting the dim hallway. My eyes landed on the black combat style boots and then traveled up the length of the long powerful legs that were fitted so perfectly in a pair of worn jeans. His long fingers held tightly around the denim near his crotch as he was still in the midst of pulling up his zipper as he strode from the men’s room. Embarrassed for gawking, my eyes quickly darted to the pair of muscular, tattooed forearms before flitting to the brunette who stumbled from the same bathroom doorway, clinging onto him. My eyes landed on his and my heart plummeted to my stomach.
Ashton.
I'm a wife and mother of two beautiful children. Being from sunny south Florida, I never spent much time inside reading. I decided to give it a try with a highly talked about trilogy and found myself devouring the pages like a mad woman. Although I knew I was hooked with that trilogy, the hundreds of books I read in the following year proved it.
Through my love of reading sparked the inspiration to try my hand at writing. I wrote two full length novels as a hobby and only through my husbands encouragement did I ever consider self publishing.

3.5 stars I <3 Ashton Stars
Numb in Lynn Rider's debut book. I enjoyed it, but it left me with questions and wanting more detail into the lives of the characters. I look forward to reading what Rider comes up with next.
Meagan is an accomplished musician, working her dream job in New York City. Walking away from her family when she did not become what they wanted her to. She followed her dreams and went to live her life, her way. The only ties she has to her family, is through her older brother Owen. Who helps to support her, while she is living her dream. I really wanted more background on these two characters. We get the basic idea as to why they are no longer connected to their parents, but I wanted more.
Meagan has finally met someone who seems to be the right fit for her. But Douglas is just boring and after so long she realizes that she is not truly happy with him. Their is no spark and they behave like an old married couple.
Ashton Harris is the lead guitarist and back up vocalist for Silver Knight, one of the hottest bands to hit the pop scene. He and Meagan have crossed paths several months ago and they parted as friends. Here is another area where I would have liked a little more background info. Did they have a relationship? Were they even trying to have one? Or was Meagan so dead set on her career, that she could not make room for Aston? She did say that he would break her heart in the end.
All Ashton knows is that Meagan is it for him and he will do whatever is necessary to prove to her that they can make a life together. I love love loved his character. He was the hot, sexy, tattooed bad boy rocker. But had this amazing caring side. He wanted to help his family and make sure that Meagan was safe and protected. He was sweet, sexy, hard and controlling when he needed to be. He wanted to give her the world.
It just seemed that no matter how much Meagan claimed to love Ashton, she was constantly doubting their relationship. She would get so upset over things that are expected to happen in a rockers life and then she would hesitate to discuss them with Ashton. Although she was his biggest supporter when the shit really hit the fan between them.
Can Meagan get over all the crazy tabloid stories and put the past behind them? Is Ashton strong enough to fight for her and prove to her that he is the one that she belongs with? That he can provide for her and make her dreams come true. without losing what she wants and believes in? Pick up your copy and find out.
Over all this was a decent read. I struggled with all the professing of love. I think it was a tad over done. Other than some minor grammar issues and things being stated more times than necessary, I enjoyed this book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves rocker romance stories.
