This is unlike anything Kandi has written in the past. So for that I would love to applaude her for writing something totally differen't and not like her normal romance stories. Proud of her for stepping out of the box.
That being said, I did not love nor hate this story. It was in the middle for me. It wasn't that there was anything necessarily wrong with the story, I just found it hard to get into, hard to follow for me. And it didn't grab my attention and COMMAND I read this NOW. It could be in the start I was a bit confused with the poker stuff and the fraternity stuff. I know absolutely nothing about either and I found it hard to pick up or keep me interested. So, that is the reason I do not love and would probably not read it again. The story all on it's own was fine. Kandi writes beautifully. There was a really good story going on there with Kip and what was going on. The characters were pretty amazing, Skyler at times I got a little annoyed with, but over all I enjoyed her. And Kip, WOW. SMOKING is all I have to say. Really enjoyed him. The story is intriguing and sometimes catches you off balance with things that happens. Always a welcoming surprise. The book made me laugh on numerous occasions, so that is ALWAYS a HUGE bonus. Has drama, angst, HOTNESS, everything you could want to read. I would give this book a recommendation for sure. It was wonderful in it's own way. It just wasn't my cup of tea, per se. I will continue to read anything Kandi writes and eagerly wait for her next hit :-)
